Prof Dr Jorge Alberto Costa e Silva
Former President of the World Psychiatric Association, he was Director of the Mental Health Department of the World Health Organization in Geneva (WHO). President of the National Academy of Medicine (2017-2020), in addition to being founder and president of the Brazilian Brain Institute (INBRACER).
He is also an honorary member of the Academy of Medicine of São Paulo, an honorary member of the Academy of Medicine of Portugal, Dr. Honoris Causa of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and Dr. Honoris Causa of the University of Lisbon. .
Professor Costa e Silva is also a reference in the most modern research and in several studies in the field of mental health and neuroscience. For more than 40 years, he has worked in his private clinic in Rio de Janeiro and is head of the psychiatry service of Santa de Misericórdia do Rio de Janeiro, which bears his name.
He is also currently a member of the Advisory Board of the Higher Institute of Social, Political and Health Sciences of the University of Lisbon; he is scientific medical director of the Germed laboratory in Lisbon; in addition to carrying out clinical and teaching activities in the city of Lisbon.
